Celebrating Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month -Lorena Austin

From Representative Lorena Austin’s Instagram.

Thank you, Arizona List, for the special recognition during Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month. @arizonalist

Being from the Latine community and a member of the LGBTQ+ community has shaped my life in many profound ways. It’s been a journey of embracing intersectionality, paying tribute to our resilient ancestors, and honoring our rich culture. 🫂

My academic path at ASU led me to graduate with a degree in Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies from the School of Transborder Studies. That experience has allowed me to explore the intricate tapestry of our culture and its profound impact on our State. From immigration policies to our economy, I’ve delved deep into the issues that matter most to our community. 🏛️

But it’s not just about the books and studies. It’s about the people, the traditions, and the vibrant, colorful tapestry of the Latine culture right here in Arizona that inspire me every day.

As we celebrate Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, I want to extend my appreciation to all of you who have supported me on this incredible journey. Let’s continue to celebrate our culture, our diversity, and our shared commitment to making our state a better place for everyone.
¡Adelante, siempre Adelante!
