Roxanna Valenzuela

Running for South Tucson Mayor

In just a year and a half, Mayor Roxanna Valenzuela has transformed her office into a shield for South Tucson. A second-generation Mexican migrant and mother of two, she led her slate to seize the council majority and end decades of systemic neglect.  A dedicated Catholic Worker, Roxanna prioritizes public safety and radical community care. She secured a $1 million gift from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe for emergency services and $50 million through RTA Next for historic infrastructure and transit. Alongside the State Attorney General, she is aggressively holding predatory slumlords accountable via cease-and-desist orders.
Beyond City Hall, she runs the Casa Maria soup kitchen and Barrios Unidos Land Trust, feeding our neighbors and removing property from the speculative market to keep it in the hands of the people. Her vision for the next term is total sovereignty: delivering free WiFi and solar energy to every household, building a “bottom-up” economy for small businesses, and creating housing that families from the barrio can actually afford to buy. Mayor Valenzuela doesn’t just hold office; she holds the line for our culture, dignity, safety, and future.
