Carol Smith is a dedicated city councilmember whose career reflects a deep commitment to service, community health, and public safety. A registered nurse by training, Smith brings frontline healthcare experience to local government, grounding policy decisions in compassion, evidence, and real world impact. With years of experience in hospitals and community health settings, she has been a strong advocate for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Smith previously served as deputy mayor, helping lead citywide initiatives focused on neighborhood safety, economic stability, and responsive city services. In that role, she worked closely with first responders, public safety leaders, and community organizations to advance collaborative, prevention-oriented approaches to public safety. She also serves as a board member of WACOG, contributing regional leadership on issues including healthcare access, emergency services, and intergovernmental cooperation.

As a parent, Smith understands the challenges facing working families and brings that perspective to policymaking. A longtime community advocate, she has supported investments in mental health services, public safety resources, and programs that strengthen trust between residents and local institutions. Smith also helped initiate a city youth government program, creating opportunities for young people to engage in civic leadership and learn firsthand how local government works.

On the city council, Smith continues to champion accessible healthcare, safe neighborhoods, and inclusive, forward-looking governance to ensure the city remains a healthy, secure place for all.
