Running for Goodyear City Council
Benita Beckles had a dual career in the military and corporate/city government. She served thirty years as a commissioned officer in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves, achieving the rank of full colonel and retired as a group commander. In addition, she spent over twenty years working in various city government positions in Detroit and Phoenix. She retired from the City of Detroit as a human resources manager and the City of Phoenix as a senior human resources analyst. She is currently Vice Chair of the Goodyear Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, a member of the Goodyear Community Action Network, a board member of the Southwest Valley YMCA and board member of the Arizona State University West Campus Veterans Center. Ms. Beckles is also a member of The Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Archer Ragsdale Chapter, Military Officers Association of America – Luke Chapter, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Arizona West Valley Chapter. Benita is a self-published author, her book, “Self-Discovery Workbook” has been used in personal growth seminars throughout the United States. Benita attained a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a master’s degree from George Washington University. She has two adult sons and five grandchildren.
