Meet Our Guest Speaker: Maya Harris

We’re thrilled to welcome Maya Lakshmi Harris as our guest speaker for our 20th Annual Celebration Saturday, March 2nd, 2024! Maya is a trailblazer at the intersection of politics, public policy, and civil rights, with a remarkable career spanning over two decades.

Meet Maya
Maya has been a powerful force for racial and gender justice, advocating for policies that strengthen the U.S. economy and democracy with a focus on greater inclusion of women and people of color. As Senior Policy Advisor to Hillary Clinton in 2016, she led the development of Clinton’s domestic policy agenda and played a key role in creating the party’s most progressive platform.

She served as Campaign Chair for her sister, Kamala Harris, during the 2020 presidential primary and as a national surrogate for the Biden-Harris ticket, she continued to advocate for progressive policies.

As Vice President of Democracy, Rights & Justice at the Ford Foundation, Maya directed over $750 million in investments to promote effective governance, democratic participation, and civil and human rights globally. She managed initiatives addressing economic and political opportunities for women.

Maya has been the Executive Director of ACLU Northern California and now sits on the board for EMILY’s List. Her legal and advocacy work includes efforts to restore voting rights and reproductive rights.
