Theresa Hatathlie

Running for LD6 State Senate.

Senator Theresa Hatathlie has more than 20 years of experience working with Navajo Nation youth from 5 to 24 years of age. Additionally, she was appointed to the Diné College Board of Regents and served for 13 years. In January of 2022, she was appointed as an Arizona State Senator, where today, she is a member of Judiciary and Elections and Natural Resource Committees. In 2020, amidst the pandemic, she co-founded Yee Ha’ólníi Doo dba Navajo & Hopi Families Covid-19 Relief Fund, which raised funds to provide food, personal protective equipment, medication, and other lifesaving resources for Navajo and Hopi Nations. Today, this organization is centered around resiliency work in many communities in Arizona and New Mexico.

Senator Hatathlie is an ardent advocate in advancing legislation that safeguards the environment, tribal water rights, water and air quality, and the protection of cultural spaces. She works hard to ensure full funding of public education, sponsoring legislation for rural schools that provide a safe learning environment for Arizona’s children. She focuses on solution-based communication and developing policies that enhance the lives of constituents in LD6. Going forward, Hatathlie’s top priorities will be environmental preservation, prioritizing community benefit in transitional energies, roads and transportation, public education, access to higher education, and accountability for fraud and abuse of healthcare practices. They are a foundation of her continued representation of LD6.

Hatathlie received “The Power of She”, Recognition & Honoring Diné Asdzáá inaugural recognition by Navajo Nation Vice-President Richelle Montoya in September. This recognition is honoring the strength and resilience celebrating The Spirit of Navajo Women.
