Running for Cartwright Elementary School Governing Board
I’ve spent nearly a decade serving the Cartwright community, having held a seat on the school board from July 2015 through December 2024. Throughout my tenure, I worked to be a steady, community-minded voice for students, families, and staff.
Championing Inclusion and Representation
I made it a priority to ensure every voice in our community was heard at the board table. I worked to open up board meetings to broader participation, encouraging families from all backgrounds to engage with district decision-making. My focus was making sure historically underrepresented families felt genuinely included in shaping our district’s policies and priorities — not just invited to observe them.
Advocating for Special Needs Students
I was a dedicated advocate for students with special needs throughout my time on the board. I pushed to expand autism support services across the district, working to ensure students on the spectrum had access to the resources, staff training, and classroom accommodations they needed to thrive. I believe every child deserves an educational environment built around their needs, and I fought to make that a reality for Cartwright’s special needs community.
Leading Through COVID-19
When the pandemic upended daily life for students and educators alike, I played a key role in guiding Cartwright’s response. I helped the board navigate difficult, fast-moving decisions around health and safety, remote and hybrid learning, and keeping students connected to their education during an unprecedented disruption — always with an emphasis on minimizing harm to our most vulnerable students and families.
Investing in Sustainability
I also championed energy-saving initiatives across the district, supporting efforts to reduce costs and environmental impact in our schools. These initiatives reflect my belief that responsible stewardship of district resources benefits both taxpayers and future generations of students.
I’m running for school board again because I believe Cartwright’s students deserve leaders who listen, adapt, and plan for the long term — just as I did throughout my previous nine years of service.
