Running for Maricopa County Community College Governing Board
Judy Schwiebert has spent her life in the Northwest Valley’s LD2 as the mom of two sons, a teacher for 27 years at Cactus and Greenway High Schools, a community leader, co-founder of Theater Works, and a grassroots organizer. In 2020, she was honored when her community elected her to the State House to pursue her passion of ensuring the state is fulfilling its responsibility to better pay teachers and fund the public schools chosen by the vast majority of Arizona families. Like business owners and educators alike, she knows that we all do better when everyone has access to a quality public education. During her time in the legislature, she also sponsored and passed a bi-partisan bill to increase funding for adult education programs at our community colleges. As a former community college student, she knows first-hand the vital role they play in providing a pipeline to the workforce. She is committed to keeping our colleges accessible and affordable, ensuring our colleges are keeping up with the needs of our rapidly changing workforce, supporting students who come with a variety of backgrounds and needs, and support a professional faculty on the front lines of training students for today’s economy.
