Dr. Amelia Gallitano

Running for LD2 State Senate

Dr. Amelia Gallitano is a doctor, neuroscientist, professor, and mother who has devoted her career to service and improving public health. She earned her undergraduate degree in behavioral science before completing both her medical degree and PhD in neuroscience, followed by residency training in psychiatry. Her research has focused on the biological foundations of mental illness and how brain chemistry and neural pathways influence behavior and health outcomes.

After moving to Arizona, Dr. Gallitano helped launch the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix, where she serves as a professor training the next generation of physicians and advancing research grounded in evidence and data. She spent nine years caring for our nation’s veterans and worked to expand access to high-quality medical care including mental health care for veterans experiencing PTSD.

Dr. Gallitano has spent her career advancing science, strengthening public health, and protecting Arizona’s environment for future generations. Now, she is running for State Senate to ensure that our lawmakers listen to science and facts; and to serve the people of Arizona – not billionaires and corporations. Amelia will make sure every community has a voice in building a healthier, stronger future.
