Yassamin Ansari

Arizona native Yassamin Ansari is an accomplished young leader with a deep-rooted commitment to public service. The daughter of immigrants, Yassamin first ventured into politics as a field organizer for the Arizona Democratic Party in 2008. She is the product of Maricopa County Public Schools who later went on to graduate from Stanford and Cambridge. Yassamin has spent her career working on issues such as climate change, refugee and migration, gender equality, and social justice. Last year, Yassamin served as an advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, where she led the youth engagement and public mobilization efforts for the UN Climate Action Summit. In this capacity, Yassamin brought together more than 1,000 young climate leaders from 140+ countries for the first-ever UN Youth Climate Summit. Previously, Yassamin worked with the Office of Governor Jerry Brown where she served as the Deputy Director of Policy for the Global Climate Action Summit— a historic event that delivered more than 500 new commitments from business, cities, states and regions to tackle climate change. For her extensive work in public service, Yassamin was recently recognized by Forbes as “30 Under 30” in the Law & Policy category, and as a Grist 50 “Fixer”— “the people cooking up the boldest, most innovative solutions to fix the biggest challenges that face our globe.
