Stephanie Parra is an experienced educator committed to improving public schools in Arizona. She is a first generation American citizen, born and raised in Yuma, and is a product of Arizona public schools. As one of the first in her family to attend college, Stephanie understands the power of a great education. Stephanie holds B.S. in Justice Studies and Psychology, and a M.S. in Higher and Post-secondary Education from Arizona State University.
Stephanie began her career as a child advocate, working to ensure that all children have a safe and secure home. She later became an instructor at Arizona State University, and currently works for Teach For America’s Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation national team, and co-teaches a Northern Arizona University course on social entrepreneurship.
Stephanie has been on the Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board in Ward 3 since 2014. Currently, 53% of Arizona high school students do not graduate eligible to attend state universities; one of her main goals as an elected board member has been to ensure all students graduating high school are academically and socially prepared for college, careers and a lifetime of success.
