Monica Trejo currently serves as the President of Tempe Elementary School Board, as the district 3 representative. She is a native Arizonan and attended Arizona State University, joined Teach for America-Phoenix and taught special education in Tolleson. Currently she is an instructional coach at a Phoenix elementary school and doctoral student at Columbia University. Monica has been committed to work for schools that can move children out of the cycle of poverty and help them reach their dreams.
Her priorities as school board President include equal opportunity for students regardless of income, Latinx representation within school institutions, and instilling confidence in students that they can be the best within school and as they enter higher-education or the workforce.
