Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board

Jennifer Martin is a life-long Arizonan.  The daughter of an archaeologist living less than a mile from the Superstition Mountain Wilderness Area, she grew up immersed in Arizona’s amazing natural and cultural resources. A product of the Arizona school system, she attended Apache Junction School District K-12 and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Biology.  An athlete and a scholar, she graduated a member of the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence and BBB, the Biological Honors Society.

She enjoyed a ten-year career as a wildlife biologist with Arizona Game and Fish Department, which included administering a state-wide bird conservation granting program and which culminated in her appointment to the office of Game and Fish Commissioner from 2006 to 2011, having been nominated by Governor Janet Napolitano.  Her proudest accomplishment as Game and Fish Commissioner was the establishment of the Conservationist Committee, which was formed to increase collaboration and bridge the divide between various stakeholder groups.

She currently serves as a water expert for the Sierra Club and works on water quality, flow and depth to groundwater monitoring and habitat restoration around the state as well as policy analysis and advocacy.
