Fern Ward has been a proud Laveen resident since 1982, and is committed to making her community the best it can be by serving on the Laveen Elementary School District Governing Board.
Fern and her husband, Richard, were among the families who organized Laveen’s first baseball in 1987. In 2013, their family saw the need for a new league and organized the Laveen Baseball League. This is all-volunteer run nonprofit league, now in its sixth year, serves 600 youth, and is open to all children, regardless of their ability to play or pay.
Fern currently works part-time for the Phoenix Police Foundation. She’s been active in the PTSA, the Laveen Fire District Board, and the Laveen Community Council. Fern is dedicated to the Laveen community, and investing in the next generation through quality public education.
Fern and Richard have two children, two children-in-law, and five wonderful grandchildren. Their children, now a public school principal and a police officer, are both Laveen Elementary School graduates.
