Deb Harris is running as a write in candidate for the Flagstaff City Council and she counts it as a privilege to serve in this capacity. Giving back to Flagstaff in this way provides her with an opportunity to serve the community she has called home for almost thirty years.
She moved to Flagstaff in 1993 from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where she had worked for over ten years in a variety of Housing and Student Services positions. Northern Arizona University recruited her to take a position as an Area Coordinator for the Office of Housing and Residence Life. She supervised NAU’s Family Housing and Apartment style housing (South Family, Campus Heights, Roseberry, Gillenwater, Raymond and McDonald Halls). She was selected for this position due to her experience in working with non-traditional and older returning adult students.
After serving in that role for four years, she was promoted to an Assistant Dean and then Associate Dean in the Office of Student Life where she worked as a Judicial Officer adjudicating the Student Code of Conduct. Deb Harris also administered the university’s Child Care Voucher Program, CCAMPIS child care federal grant and the Office of Parent and Family Services. After 35 years of experience in higher education she retired from Northern Arizona University.
