Susan Benjamin has spent her career of 31 years in public education, as a teacher, principal and the Director of Special Education. She is currently a member of the Phoenix Elementary Governing Board, serving as a Vice President. Susan is the proud mother of 2 sons and grandmother of 2 granddaughters. She knows the best outcome for our students requires highly qualified teachers, a commitment to the needs of each child and strong ties to families and community. She has served as Principal of Roadrunner School in the Paradise Valley Unified School District and as Assistant Director of Special Education in the Paradise Valley district. Throughout her career, she has prioritized early intervention as an essential part of elementary education.Â
Susan believes that each child should have the opportunity to reach his or her potential and has worked diligently with that goal in mind on the Phoenix Elementary Governing Board. She has lived in Phoenix for 38 years, has deep roots in her community and continues her focus of support by mentoring an at-risk student. Susan has a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision from George Mason University and a BS from James Madison University.
