A graduate from Tucson High School, Paula earned her BA in English from the University of Arizona.  A strong advocate of the Democratic Party, Paula worked to build up the Democratic Party in Tucson and Pima County.  She serves as the ranking Democratic member of the powerful Appropriations Committee and also served on the Health Committee and Education Committee.  She also serves on the Higher Education Committee and Commerce and Economic Development committees.  She has been a member of the Senate since she filled Gabrielle Giffords’ vacant spot in 2006.

How Paula has Helped Arizona

Paula Aboud helped pass a bill that allows citizens the opportunity to purchase the “Arizona Centennial Special Plate,” a license plate benefitting Arizona food banks. “This bill provides another source of income for hungry Arizonans who utilize the Community Food Bank system,” says Senator Aboud. She also fought against unfair discrimination in health insurance policies and for organ transplant funding.
