Running for Mayor of the City of El Mirage
Alexis Hermosillo is serving her second term as Mayor of the City of El Mirage. A proud fifth-generation resident, she carries a deep love for the community that raised her and remains committed to enriching the lives of the families who call El Mirage home. She believes local government works best when it is rooted in service, transparency, and genuine care for people.
Before becoming Mayor, Alexis built a diverse career in public service and communications. She worked for the largest public transportation agency in Maricopa County, managed a multi-state radio network under the Cesar Chavez Foundation, and served as a District Representative for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She has also led national advocacy efforts focused on climate policy and carbon pricing and provided strategic and operational support to nonprofit organizations across the country.
As Mayor, Alexis serves on numerous regional boards and committees, including the Maricopa Association of Governments Executive Committee, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns Executive Committee, WESTMARC, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, and the Luke West Valley Council. She previously served on the Valley Metro Board and the YWCA of Metropolitan Phoenix Board.
Alexis holds a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership.
