Justine Centanni

Running for Tempe Union High School District #213 Governing Board

As a retired TUHSD educator, parent, and community member, Justine Centanni is a uniquely qualified candidate running for the Tempe Union High School Governing Board. With her institutional knowledge of the district and over four decades of experience in the classroom, Justine possesses the critical cross-stakeholder empathy that allows her to build trust, facilitate communication, and cultivate collaboration. Justine’s priorities include student ownership and accountability, teacher expertise and empowerment, and modern literacies.

Justine earned a bachelor’s degree in English Education (1981) and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction (1997) from Arizona State University. After student teaching at Tempe High School, she was hired at Corona del Sol in 1981. She spent the next 44 years at Corona (25 years as an English teacher and 19 as a librarian) before retiring in May of 2025. During her tenure, Justine also served as Academic Coach, New Teacher Advisor, Staff Development Coordinator, and Media Services Department Chair. Additionally, she coached or sponsored several teams and clubs and participated in both site and district level committees.

Justine is married to Scott who also taught and coached at Tempe Union’s Corona del Sol for decades. They have two grown sons, both of whom are TUHSD graduates.
