Arizona State Sen. Dr. Diaz is an Arizona native, married, and a mother of two children. Her thirty years in the Field of Education includes teaching and serving in administrative positions in public schools. Dr. Diaz has also taught undergraduate and graduate level education classes at community colleges and Arizona State University. She has also provided professional development at schools to teachers and support staff. Dr. Diaz earned her Doctorate from Arizona State University in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership. She has been part of the Red for Ed movement of the Arizona Education Association, which began an aggressive fight for public education in Arizona in 2018. Dr. Diaz has also been active as a volunteer and in paid positions with Chicanos Por La Causa Community Center. She currently serves on the Arizona State Senate Education, Government, and Federalism and Family Law Committees. Dr. Diaz is the ranking member of the Senate Education Committee for the Arizona Senate Democratic caucus.
