Melissa Ewing

Running for Peoria Unified School District Governing Board

Melissa Ewing is an educator and servant leader dedicated to students, families, and strong public schools in the Peoria Unified community. She holds a Master of Education and Counseling from the University of Phoenix and brings both professional and personal experience to public education. In her current term on the Peoria Unified School Board, Melissa has focused on supporting academic excellence, student growth and proficiency, transparency, professional development for educators, strong support systems, and positive learning environments for students and staff. She has also worked to strengthen community partnerships with nonprofits, faith organizations, higher education institutions, and the local chamber of commerce to expand career and college pathways for students and families. Prior to her board service, Melissa worked for six years as a substitute teacher in the district, gaining firsthand knowledge of classroom needs, student success, and school operations. Her previous service also includes more than 15 years as a volunteer in PUSD schools. As the parent of two Peoria Unified graduates, she understands the importance of stable, responsible leadership that puts students first, values literacy as a foundation, keeps education above politics, and promotes collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
