Running for Kyrene School District Governing Board
Catherine Peters is a candidate for the Kyrene School District Governing Board in the 2026 election. She is a wife, former Kyrene student, and current Kyrene parent who is deeply committed to protecting and strengthening public education.
Born and raised in Arizona, Catherine began attending Kyrene schools after her mother moved their family to Tempe in order to provide greater opportunities and access to a strong public education. That decision had a profound impact on her life, and Catherine often says Kyrene helped shape the path she is on today. Now, years later, she is watching her own children walk the same hallways and attend the same schools that she and her husband once did.
When Kyrene, like many districts across Arizona, announced potential school closures, Catherine stood alongside other Kyrene parents to advocate for their community. Together, they worked to provide research, data, and community input that helped influence the board’s decision to keep two of the eight originally proposed schools open.
Catherine’s priorities include increasing enrollment, improving transparency in district finances, and expanding opportunities for every Kyrene student. She believes everyone deserves a seat at the table—parents, teachers, staff, community members, and students—to make Kyrene stronger than ever.
