Running for El Mirage City Council
Monica Dorcey is a dedicated community leader and longtime public servant with deep roots in service and advocacy. Born and raised in rural Wayne, Nebraska, as one of nine siblings, she developed a strong work ethic and commitment to community early in life. After graduating from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, Monica built a successful 27-year career in the independent adjusting business before joining Farmers Insurance Group in 2003 as a senior claim representative. That same year, she relocated to El Mirage, Arizona, with her daughter, Ashley.
Now retired, Monica remains actively engaged in her community, focusing especially on initiatives that support children, education, and local development. She has held numerous leadership and volunteer roles within the City of El Mirage, including serving as Vice Mayor from 2021 to 2022. Her civic involvement also includes years of service on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Judicial Review Committee.
Monica’s broader community contributions include leadership roles with organizations such as the Northwest Valley YMCA Advisory Board, the Dysart Education Foundation, and Arizona Career Pathways. A former El Mirage Citizen of the Year, she continues to serve as a trusted leader, including as President of the West Valley Neighborhoods Coalition, working to strengthen and uplift her community.
