Running for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Dr. Teresa “Terry” Leyba Ruiz is a lifelong educator, dedicated leader, and passionate advocate for public education. A proud Arizonan, she is entirely a product of our public schools. After receiving her Doctor of Education from ASU, Terry dedicated 35 years to Arizona’s classrooms, as a math teacher, an administrator, and ultimately as the President of Glendale Community College.
She has consistently broken barriers and defied expectations, never backing down from a challenge. She currently serves as the Chief Advocacy and Programs Officer for Education Forward Arizona, an education-nonprofit focused on improving education access. In this role, she oversees all direct student service programs and all advocacy work.
Terry is taking that same commitment to the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction because she understands that public education is the foundation of our democracy and deserves to be protected.
