Sen. Andrea Dalessandro – LD 2 Senate

An East Coast native residing Sahuarita, Andrea Dalessandro has dedicated her life to civic, community, local and regional service. Elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2012 by the voters in LD2, Andrea’s work as a legislator is driven by her commitment to give the students of Arizona the same educational opportunities that she had, and provide them with the tools to become productive and prosperous adults.

A product of strong public education, Andrea taught high school mathematics at an inner city school for more than a decade. After earning two Masters Degrees, Andrea developed a strong knowledge of tax policy through her work as a CPA for several corporations in the New York metropolitan area. She later became a small business owner, operating her own tax practice for 25 years. During these years she also taught accounting at the university level, returning to her alma mater Rutgers University.

While Andrea enjoyed the challenges of life in the corporate world, she also wanted to devote more time for community involvement. Andrea volunteered on several faith-based boards that helped homeless people transition into homes and employment.

Andrea’s work as a legislator on behalf of key issues has earned her an “A” rating from the Sierra Club, and 100% rating from the Arizona Children’s Association. In 2016 and 2017 she served as an Arizona State Director for the nationwide organization Women in Government.

Andrea has one daughter, Michele, who is a nurse/midwife, and is the proud grandmother of five.
