Mitzi Epstein was elected to the State House in 2016. A computer systems analyst and small business owner, she is focused on listening to her community and working collaboratively to improve the quality of life for Arizonans.
Prior to running for the legislature, Mitzi spent years working at the community and state levels to promote strong schools, youth sports programs, entrepreneurial opportunities, and the arts. She was elected to the Kyrene Elementary School District Governing Board in 2004, and worked successfully with education professionals to improve transparency of operations, while always keeping the focus on student achievement. During her time as a leader in the Arizona PTA, Mitzi mentored over 200 local PTA groups, helping parents develop actionable solutions for their children’s schools.
Mitzi’s legislative priorities includes protecting public education and growing the innovation economy. In 2017 she received an A+ rating from the Arizona Education Association, a 100% rating from Children’s Action Alliance, and an A+ rating from the Sierra Club.
