Simir Rand was born in Tucson, Arizona. The youngest of three siblings, she attended Tolson Elementary, Maxwell Jr High, Cholla High School, Pima College, the University of Arizona and Ottawa University Phoenix. Simir has a Bachelor’s of Art in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in English and reading, Master’s of Art in Educational Intervention, and a Master’s of Art in School Counseling. She taught English for 8 years and is currently a School Counselor at South Mountain High, in the Phoenix Union High School District. She was a special education assistant and teacher in the Washington Elementary School district for 4 years and will finish her career with the Phoenix Union High School District. She is a committee member of the outreach ministry at Fountain of Life House of Worship. This ministry provides the south Phoenix community with seasonal and essential needs – free haircuts, backpacks and school supplies; a food box giveaway (every Saturday); and holiday meals. In addition, she is on the church finance team. Simir is the secretary for the Laveen Community Council and chairs the Scholarship Committee. She sits on the community board for Dignity Health General Hospital. In 2020, she was a candidate for the Laveen Elementary School Board; and served as the PTA treasurer at her neighborhood school from 2013 to 2016.
