Running for Nogales Unified School Board.
Mayra Quintero was born in Nogales to a single mom. Quintero lives in Nogales today and is a single mother of two children, herself. She attended public schools in the Nogales Unified School District. At a young age, she showed a passion for social causes, getting involved in clubs to help the community, volunteering at the hospital and Red Cross, and leading the debate team. She took a 10 year pause to become a mom and a wife after graduating high school. In 2019, she graduated as an EMT and firefighter from Pima Community College and started a girl scout troop. It was the slogan “make the world a better place” that caught her attention and drew her to Girl Scouts. Today, she continues helping her community and others around her. Her goal is to provide better education, safety, and equal opportunities for kids in the district. She wants to create a brighter future to “make the world a better place”.
