Kortney Zesiger

Running for Flagstaff Unified School Board.

Kortney Zesiger is one of three candidates endorsed by the Flagstaff Education Association (FEA). She is a dedicated and passionate educator with 20+ years of experience in public education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University in 2004, specializing in Health and Physical Education. In 2008, Kortney received her master’s degree in educational leadership and Principal Certification, enriching her qualifications and career opportunities. Additionally, Kortney is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025 through Northern Arizona University. Kortney spent five years working in educational policy at the Arizona Department of Education, focusing on educator preparation and program approval. This role involved fostering excellence in teacher preparation programs statewide by collaborating with teachers, higher education deans, faculty, and support personnel. For the past eight years, Kortney has been a key faculty member at Northern Arizona University, where she trains pre-service Health and Physical Education teachers. Her work extends into local schools, where she partners with educators to deliver high-quality Physical Education experiences to students from K-12. Kortney is family-focused. She is a mother of three children within the school district, and her role as a mom has provided her with firsthand insight into the community’s educational needs. Kortney is invested in the local Flagstaff community and has always had a professional goal of being a voice for children and teachers on a local governing board.
