Kellen Wilson grew up in Arizona; attending The Judson School and playing year-round soccer. She moved to the East coast to attend college, studying Business at Fordham University in New York. After Kellen graduated and came home, she experienced all that the Great Recession did to the job market in Arizona. She worked in retail, food service and volunteered for nonprofits and charity organizations. In 2011, as a restaurant waitress, Kellen organized with her coworkers and led their group’s negotiations for a first time union contract. It was then that she began working as a Hospitality Employee Representative, ensuring opportunities for job security and modest benefits in Arizona’s hotel and food service industry.
