Karla Bernal Morales

Karla Bernal Morales serves as the Vice President of theĀ  Arizona Technology Council. In this role, Morales leads and oversees the Councilā€™s Southern Arizona operations, including recruiting new members, securing sponsorships, and supporting events. Morales brings to her position more than 25 years of experience in the regionā€™s education, nonprofit, and governmental communities. Formerly, Karla was the Director for the Office of Multicultural Advancement in the Office of the Provost at the University of Arizona. In her role, Karla served as the liaison for the Universityā€™s Diversity Councils and facilitated the relationship between the state and local community with the university senior leadership and campus partners to advance diversity, equity & inclusion efforts on campus. In her previous role, Karla also supported the University of Arizonaā€™s government and community relations for the southern Arizona region. Morales is a data and impact-driven professional. She began her public service career volunteering at a local community center. Karla worked for the State of Arizona for overĀ  17 years with the Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility and assisted thousands of Arizona families toĀ  receive state and federally funded assistance for nutritional assistance, employment training, childcareĀ  benefits, and medical assistance. During her tenure at United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona, KarlaĀ  raised over eight million dollars to support programs that directly impacted the community in the areas ofĀ  education, financial stability, and health. Karla serves on various community boards, including UA Tech Parks-Campus Research Corporation, Pima County Workforce Investment Board, Earn to Learn, College of Engineering Deanā€™s Council, Tucson Airport Authority, Intelā€™s Community Advisory Council, Charter 100, Second Sky, and is the Chair Emeritus of Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Bachelor of Science in education with a minor in bilingual studies from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Eller College.
