Candidate Introductions II

We Have Winners!

Arizona List congratulates our two endorsed candidates who faced primary battles on Tuesday and won handily.   They are:

Representative Jackie Thrasher   House LD10   http://www.jackiethrasher.com/

Elected last year to represent this north Phoenix District, Jackie has done a great job in the legislature for Arizona’s women and families and  deserves a return trip.  She has  asked Arizona List for volunteers.   Call the Arizona List office or send an email to lhogan@ArizonaList.org if you can help Jackie in her race against a serious challenge from two Republican opponents.

Rep. Olivia Cajero-Bedford   House LD27   ocajerob@yahoo.com

Olivia’s biggest challenge came in the primary in this strongly Democratic District in southeast Tucson and she  won easily.   She faces a serious Republican challenger in the General Election.

We Have Challenges!

The primary results also brought a real challenge to the Democrats in Arizona.   Almost without exception in districts with Republican primaries, it was the most conservative candidates who won.

One way to help is to make an extra contribution to Arizona List right now.    Our endorsed candidates are running under Clean Elections and can no longer  take additional contributions,  but Arizona List is uniting with other progressive groups in Arizona to contribute to an Independent Expenditure Committee in the top targeted races in the State.   Many  include our women.   You can make an additional contribution in any amount from $5 to $500 to Arizona List at http://www.arizonalist.org/member/.   Just check the “One time Contribution” box at the top of the form and enter your information.

Arizona List encourages our members to rally around our endorsed candidates to provide volunteers  to ensure they win.    Please call our office or send an email to lhogan@arizonalist.org    so we can track our Arizona List energy.   Below is a summary of each of the candidates not previously highlighted, their Districts and contact information to volunteer.

 Sheri VanHorsen   House LD9   http://www.votesheri.org/

Sheri ran for this seat in 2006 and almost won!   She has been campaigning hard this year and is in a good position to be one of the four seats Democrats pick up to take control of the House this year.   The District which includes parts of Glendale and Sun City leans Republican but for several reasons is a good pick up opportunity for Democrats this year.   It is going to take a lot of work and Sheri needs your help.

Rae Waters   House LD20   http://www.raewaters.com/

This is another opportunity to pick up one of the four seats we need in the Arizona House.   Rae has  specifically requested  help with data input for the voter file because keeping a record of the voter contacts she makes is an important part of her victory strategy.   Can you help her?

Pat Fleming   House LD25   http://www.fleming2008.com/

Pat understands the needs of this really large and diverse district which  spans five counties.   It includes large parts of Cochise and Santa Cruz counties and picks up precincts in Pima, Pinal and Maricopa.   Pat would especially like to have help from some of our Phoenix members in the Buckey area of Maricopa County and from our Pima County members to reach the voters in Marana.   If you can help Pat in any of her diverse areas, please contact her through her website above.

Rep. Nancy Young Wright   House LD26   http://www.nancyyoungwright.com/

Nancy was appointed to fill this seat in northern Pima County and souther Pinal County when Lena Saradnik resigned for health reasons.   She is successfully representing the voters of District 26.   The Republicans want to reclaim  this  Republican leaning district.   Nancy is running a campaign coordinated with Cheryl Cage, the Arizona List endorsed Senate candidate.   Regular walks and phone banks are scheduled and she needs our Arizona List members to stand with her  now by volunteering some time this fall to ensure her election.

 Cheryl Cage   Senate LD26   http://www.cageforazsenate.com/

Arizona List stood with Cheryl before we knew that her opponent would be the most conservative of the Republicans in the primary.   Cheryl’s election just became much more important for all of Arizona’s progressive groups when Al Melvin won the Republican primary for the District 26 Senate seat.   Cheryl’s small business experience will serve District 26 well if we get her elected.   She is running a campaign coordinated with that of Nancy Young-Wright above.   Make no mistake about the Republican’s interest is winning this seat back!

Andrea Dalessandro   House LD30   http://www.andrea4ld30.com/

Andrea is another pick up opportunity to gain a majority in the Arizona House so she msut win!   She is also facing the most conservative of the Republicans  from the primary.   The district includes the east side of Tucson, Mt. Lemmon, Tanque Verde Valley, Green Valley, parts of Sierra Vista and a few precincts in Santa Cruz County.   Andrea,    a former CPA, is very organized with  walks and  phone banks  already scheduled throughout the District.   Can you help her?
