ELECTION RESULTS: Presler-Hoefle unseats 4-term mayor

Tuesday, May 20, 2008Challenger Sara Presler-Hoefle posted a big 64% to 35%
victory over Mayor Joe Donaldson in the city of
Flagstaff general election.Voters the ousted four-term incumbent in favor of a
former county defense attorney and political neophyte
by a sizable margin. Flagstaff’s first female mayor,
Presler-Hoefle said her victory was validation of her
message and vision for future of Flagstaff.“The community was ready for a change — a fresh
vision and new perspective. I have been able to couple
that with preserving the Flagstaff that we love and
bring that forward in tangible terms,” she said.In the race for three city council seats, Al White led
all contenders with 5,613 votes. Sunnyside and
Southside neighborhood organizer Coral Evans won a
seat, as did Northern Arizona University employee
Karla Brewster, who claimed the final spot on the
